One day I was in a meadow on the Wonderland Trail at Mt. Rainier My daughters ran ahead on the trail. I came eye to eye with a mama brown bear with her 2 cubs. She had seen my kids pass. We looked one another in the eye and shared a moment of respect for our shared humanity as mama's. It was a powerful moment. I followed after my daughters as Mama Bear took off after her two adorable and thriving bear cubs. It's a memory I will always cherish.
